pheeme

Email at the speed of your keyboard.

pheeme is an open-source email client for developers. It opens fast, stays fast, and never makes you reach for the mouse.

It's early. There's nothing to download yet. Star the repo to follow the build.

Try the keyboard inbox

    Your keyboard runs this demo.

    Fast is the feature.

Your mail lives in a local cache, so opening a thread, searching, and archiving don't wait on a server. The goal is that nothing you do takes longer than a keystroke. When something's slow, that's a bug.

    Hands stay on the keys.

Every action has a shortcut, and the shortcuts you already know from Vim and Gmail work on day one.

    Yours to read and fork.

Your inbox is the most private thing on your computer. You should be able to read every line of the app that opens it. pheeme is open source, so you can.

Close-up halftone of Pheme's head, trumpet, and outstretched wings
Fama by Robert Henze, on the roof of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.

Named for the goddess of news.

In Greek myth, Pheme was the voice that carried news. She had wings and a trumpet, and word traveled as fast as she could fly. The Romans called her Fama, and she still stands on a rooftop in Dresden, gilded and mid-announcement.

We borrowed her name, added an e, and pointed her at your inbox.
